Course Description

This course explores the strategic use of tariffs and non-tariff measures (NTMs) in modern trade policy, equipping learners with the analytical tools to understand how governments use these instruments to shape international negotiations and protect domestic interests.

Far beyond their traditional roles as revenue-generating tools or protectionist measures, tariffs and NTMs serve as powerful levers in trade diplomacy. Through real-world examples and policy scenarios, participants will examine how nations use these tools to extract concessions, influence trade behavior, and manage economic relationships.
